Matchbox Twenty has just rolled out a massive 52-date summer tour with the Wallflowers serving as the support act throughout. "The Matchbox Twenty 2020" jaunt kicks off on July 17th at Bethlehem, Pennsylvania's Wind Creek Event Center and wraps over 10 weeks later on September 28th at L.A.'s Hollywood Bowl. Tickets go on sale on Friday (January 17th) at 12 Noon ET.

Matchbox Twenty last toured in 2017, with the band's last studio set being 2012's North. In 2018, frontman Rob Thomas released his fourth solo set, titled, Chip Tooth Smile. Jacob Dylan has seen a career resurgence with the success of his Echo In The Canyon documentary and side band.

Matchbox Twenty drummer Paul Doucette told us that creating catchy tunes is simply part of the band's musical DNA: ["A lot of times the big single, great song are not necessarily the same thing and we're trying to write great songs. So, we don't really feel the pressure of like, 'Hey it's gotta be a radio hit or whatever.' That said, I think the strength of the band is we just have a natural radio sensibility — a natural pop sensibility. That's just who we are. That's just what we do. I think no matter how hard we try, we don't write songs that are like, not catchy. That's our strength."] SOUNDCUE (:21 OC: . . . That's our strength)

Jakob Dylan, who released the first Wallflowers album back in 1992, told us that keeping a gr oupactive, alive, and growing is by far the best case scenario for a working band: ["That's what you want, is longevity, and since music is something that can affect people, it's nice to do it for a lot of people. You can always do it for a small number of people, and that's always great, too, but now the group has a chance to kind of play for a lot of people for a long time. More than record sales or more than visibility, that's the main thing that really matters, is just being able to keep at it."] SOUNDCUE (:21 OC: . . .keep at it)
